DISCOVER A NEW SERIES

We have a number of great new podcasts under production!!  Our next podcast will be the First in our Wexted “History” series where we will be joined by the Author and Journalist Paul Barry.

Alan Bond and the 1980’s: Groundhog Day?

Paul Barry: investigative journalist and author

In 1991 Journalist Paul Barry wrote a seminal book:  The Rise and Fall of Alan Bond

When Alan Bond won the America's Cup in 1983, Australia celebrated and welcomed him as a hero. By 1991 the nation's most famous entrepreneur had become a villain. Journalist Paul Barry wrote the story of how Australia made Bond man a hero and why he fell from grace.

In addition to being entertaining history, there are great parallels between the Bond failure and contemporary insolvency that shows things change, but remain the same.

Paul Barry joins Wexted to provide his insights into the 1980s financial failures, and in relation to Alan Bond the story of “a boy who longed to see his name in lights, who was desperate to be accepted by establishment, who wanted to be Sir Alan”.

And who can forget this famous moment when Paul confronted Bond on Phillip Street.

Our first ‘Wexted InsolvencHistory’ Podcast will land soon…
